Looking for a VERY special place to celebrate a birthday

Looking for a VERY Special Place to celebrate my wife's birthday, together with children & other family members.

Not necessarily a restaurant (though a very good one might do).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

What age will the Birthday Girl be??

What age group family members will be with you??

What ages will the kids be??

When you say 'not necessarily a Restaurant' are you wanting a celebratory meal, or an outing/event??

Does your wife have any special interests that we might be able to accommodate with our suggestions??

Well, the Gal will turn 50 (though she definitely doesn't look her age!)

All grown ups will be around the same age, while children are in their teens (earlu to late).

Could be either an outing/event/celebratory meal - as long as the experience is unique.

Special interests - theater, dance.

Thanks!

What about giving her both.

2 birds with 1 stone : )

Grab a nice dinner in the West End followed by a Theatre/Dance.

Check out

officiallondontheatre.co.uk/london_shows/…

for listings.

Loads of restaurants to choose from depending on your taste.

Hi

Whilst we are waiting to establish how big the family/party is, had you thought about a trip on the Millenium Wheel to get everybody in the mood?

If you want to splurge, you can hire a private capsule with afternoon tea/chocolate tasting etc....

londoneye.com/CorporateEvents/…Default.aspx

Maybe get some ideas by looking at www.squaremeal.co.uk, which lists some unusual dining venues (like hiring the Royal Nore).

Hope this is on the right track.

How about a private dining or Chef's table in a good restaurant?

How about posh afternoon tea at one of the Classic London Hotels - Ritz, Dorchester (lots of TA threads on this) I'm sure you could get them to organise a special Birthday Cake and a bottle of Bubbly or 2.

Then - depending on when you will be coming, an evening at the Theatre or Ballet

Saddlers Wells website has lots of dance events going on:

http://www.sadlerswells.com/

There is Ballet at the Coliseum or the Royal Opera House, from time to tme:

www.roh.org.uk/whatson/index.aspx?eventType=3

There is a 'ballet' orientated dance show in the form of "Billy Elliot" that might appeal more to the teens, and lots of musicals etc, etc, etc.

PS.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! x

Dinner cruise?

We did a 'premier' dinner with Bateaux London and had a great time.

3 hours on board, 4 course meal, music while you dine and then a disco afterwards, and all the while cruising along the river from Vauxhall Cross to Docklands and back.

Considering the age of the adults, why not get tickets to either Mama Mia or (my favorite) We Will Rock You!. They would bring back memories of your/her youth. I'd suggest dinner in China Town pre-theatre. With a large group I am certain you could arrange a Chinese "banquet" with many dishes for everyone to enjoy. We like Top Of the Town and E Capital! in China Town. That is what we did as part of my hubby's 50th celebration (I took him on an around the world trip, and we started in London)

Sunday Champagne Brunch at The Landmark.

Absolute top drawer London hotel.

The setting is stunning, food is to die for and service exemplary.

If you really want to treat your wife, stay the night before!
