Where to stay in London...

I'll be traveling with my brother-in-law and need a hotel to stay that is close to the sights but yet reasonable in price. I'm looking to spend between 100-150 pounds a night. We are both in our late 20's so want to be near the major routes and attractions. I've heard Covent Garden or Kensington would be a good place to stay? We are looking for 2 double beds and a place that has a pub as well. Any advice would be great or cheap 2 night deals. We'll be staying there on a Monday and Tuesday night.

Rather than seek out a hotel with pub you may be happier finding a proper stand alone pub, of which there are plenty from which to choose in central London.

If you're willing to compromise on the two double beds for a very central stay, consider the Arosfa, Ridgemount, Jesmond or Arran House hotels on Gower Street or the Morgan Hotel on Bloomsbury Street. All are within a short-ish walk or bus ride from the West End and City, with lots of night life from which to choose.

Have a look as well at the Travelodge at Euston, the TL Kings Cross Royal Scot and the TL City Road. The last is a bit east of the city centre but has great bus connections to the West End and is within walking distance of clubs in Shoreditch.

You won't find a lot of hotels with two double beds. That isn't standard like it is in the US. Typically, rooms will either have one double/queen bed (a double room), or a set of twin beds (a twin room.)

There are pubs everywhere. Don't worry about that. Every street has at least one.

try the Sperbreaks brochure / online service

we have just booked ( for the thrid time ) a Malmaison weekend away through them and they always offer a better deal than going direct to the hotel.

Last Londion trip we had we stated in The London Bridge Hotel, right by Southwark Cathedral / Borough Market.

Fab area and v.good hotel. Monday / Tuesday you are not often going to get cheap deals as many hotels are used by business people.
