Indian Restaurants?

Does anybody have any suggestions for a good indian restaurant in and around London Center? I am staying in Knightsbridge but don't mind if it isn't around this area.

Thanks in advance!!!!

I really like Cafe Spice Namaste. Closest tube stops are Tower Hill or Aldgate East.

My wife recommends Veeraswamy near the Piccadilly Circus tube stop.

The Masala Zone (Marshall Street, near Carnaby Street) is very good and quite reasonable. Memories of India, 18 Gloucester Road (South Kensington, so quite near you) is very good too.

La Porte des Indes, Chutney Marys, Khans, Quillon and the Bombay Brasserie are the top ones in my opinion- as they are at the top end of the market they are also the most expensive. Take a look at www.london-eating.com for reviews, areas and prices.

I agree with Englishrose's suggestion for a one-off visit. Any of those suggestion will be great.

There are loads of really good indian/pakistani restaurants in Knightsbridge. Being indian/pakistani myself, I can recommend Shezan and Haandi in Knightsbridge (you'll find the address in london-eating.co.uk or toptable.co.uk). Also, Porte des Indes is very good as someone else said, but is a mix of portugese indian. Red Fort on Dean St in Soho is also great. The places I've just mentioned are basically the places us asians go if we feel like 'real' indian food (when we don't want home cooking that is).

Porte des Inde is actually French-indian. The food originates from Pondicherry in South India which was once a French colony.

Spice of India on Bathurst St. near Lancaster Gate tube stop. Very intimate and cosy restaurant. Across the street from Archery Tavern, frequent venue for TALF meetups.
