Any Titanic Displays in London?

Hi Everyone,

Will be visiting London from 1st-15th September this year. Is anyone able to tell me if there are any Titanic displays of its history or any recovered artifacts in any venues or museums in the London area?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Cheers,

Christine.

Just yesterday, I found a note in the National Geographic travel guide mentioning there is an original watch from the Titanic on display in the Greenwich National Maritime Museum. They also said it's stopped at the exact time of the disaster (3.07 i believe, you'd probably know better thean me ; ) Have fun!

There are I think a few other items relating to the Titanic at the National Maritime Museum - nmm.ac.uk/explore/…the-titanic

A year or so ago there was a traveling exhibition relating to the ship that was at The Science Museum but that has moved on.

If you ever end up in Halifax, Nova Scotia then the excellent Maritime museum there has a number of exhibits and about 150 people are buried in the city - http://titanic.gov.ns.ca/

One of the old churches near the Bank of England has a Titanic connection, but I forget the details.

You're here for 2 weeks so consider taking a detour to Liverpool, which is where the Titanic's owners had their headaquarters. The Liverpool forum will be able to give you the information.

There may also be something in Southampton.

There is an exhibition about the Titanic at the Maritime Museum in Liverpool at Albert Dock. In the same exhibtion is space devoted to the Empress of Ireland disaster and the Lusitania.

Southampton houses an exhibition about the Titanic at the Maritime Museum (see http://www.culture24.org.uk/se000279 ). It's conveniently near the Docks, so you could get a good feel for the area. Most of the Crew were local to the area.

There is also a Memorial not far away. I've just found a 'Titanic self-guided walk' for Southampton (http://www.visit-southampton.co.uk/dbimgs/Titanic%20Trail(1).pdf ) which covers all the main sites.

Southampton can be easily reached by train from Waterloo Station in London. £31.80 for a day return - may be cheaper available on megatrain.
