Pubs 'n Kids

We are travelling to London, UK in August, taking our nephew with us. Is it possible to have dinner in a pub accompanied by a 14 year old? What are the policies?

Thanks for all the valuable information on this website.

Many pubs now allow children in during the daytime.

Many central London pubs are happy to accept families (food being as important as drink to them) but most will only allow you to sit down if you are eating (which you will be) and you will also need to off the premises by 9.00 or 9.30pm.

It's not always clear from the outside if children are welcome and the landlord can to some extent make his own rules up so it would make sense to go in yourself and ask before bringing your nephew in.

We just got back from London and all three of the pubs that locals recommended to us, we were told once there that children of any age were not allowed inside. Several other pubs with outdoor eating areas allowed for us to sit only outside (too cold and wet, so we found other places). We went at lunch and early evening.

Just got back with my three kids 16,15,13 and some pubs allowed us to come in for a meal in the evening, some said no and some said yes but have to leave by a specified time ie 8pm.......so we always just sent my husband in to ask first.

Thanks. Most helpful in aiding me to decide on when and where to have dinner in the evening. Cheers. Gina.
