Pub of the Year voting

The 20 finalists for the www.beerintheevening.com Pub of the Year award have been chosen. Five London area pubs made the cut:

The Royal Oak

Market Porter

The Drayton

The Morgan Arms

The Nightingale

Sadly, despite a nomination from yours truly The Lamb did not make the final list.

The Market Porter is the only one I can speak to - seemed like a nice pub, liked the T Taylor Landlord I had there last time.

I have been there twice but it was positively slammed with people both times. Which suggests its popularity but makes it hard to decide what one thinks of the pub.

The Market Porter is outstanding if only for the fact that it is run as a true freehouse. Not sure how often they rotate in guest beers but every year when I visit I get something new.

For me The Royal Oak is the quintessential english pub. Its how I envisioned such a place before I ever visited one.

I've been to the first two on the list and they are worth seeking out.
