what's a good amount of money to send for wine

I am wondering how much British money I should send to a friend that is traveling to London next month on holiday. I would like to send enough to buy a mid priced bottle of wine for her to purchase and drink back at her rental apartment. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

£10.

All shops have prices online.

Seconded, a tenner buys a decent bottle for most people. Plenty of choice either supermarket or local store

Thirded. A tenner gets a very decent bottle in my book, wifey next to me differs and says £15 but then she's a Chateauneuf snob with far too expensive tastes. I'm a cheapish date.

Sorry but £10 would not, for me, buy a mid-range bottle of wine. In October last year, I found what I consider good, not great, second label Bordeaux wines around £20. At that price, there was a lot of choice. That seemed like a good deal to me coming from Alberta where our alcohol is massively taxed by the government.

I'm with artslover. 20 pounds sounds about right. For some reason this forum brings out a lot of people that appear to have very limited funds and cheap is best.

I'd be popping for more than that, but then again, I likey good wine.

Ten pounds is probably ok, I'd pop for at least 20.

£20 a is lot. That certainly isnt mid price territory. Whilst it is to a degree down peoples taste, if you went into a supermarket with £20 there wouldnt be too many bottles of wine you couldnt buy

If it is for quaffing after sightseeing £10 should be plenty while if it s to celebrate a birthday or aviversary you could go up a bit. Despite taxation, Britain has a very competative wine market.
