Soho restaurants

Can anyone suggest a nice, relatively-inexpensive restaurant in Soho for a special lunch (Not a chain)?

Sugestions would be much appreciated.

Hummus Brothers, or Imli, or Bistro 1 are all well priced... not all that special though. Maybe Balans is worth looking at as well, bit dearer than the other places but it's smarter and might just be the compromise you need. Main courses are about £12.

For around £35 a head (including wine ) you can eat in Gauthier - a French restaurant in Soho

If you like fish, Zilli Fish on Brewer St. wil not disappoint. They have an extensive menu and the Cod will enthuse your palate.

Despite some negative reviews, Kettners on Romilly St. remains my favourite for a special occasion. I have always found the food and service to be excellent, and the atmosphere and ambience unequalled.

Happy Birthday and Bon Appetit.

I would also recommend Gauthier for French Food. Lunch is £25 for 3 courses or £33 with half a bottle of wine and they don't charge for bottled water. But with £50 a head you could choose your own wine if you don't like their choice. It's in a townhouse and they have a open fireplace to give it that cosy feeling.
