Hotel near Harrods and Piccadilly Line

My sister arrives at heathrow at 9.15pm fri May 6th.

I want to meet her and then go to a reasonable hotel where we will be able to get to Harrods fairly quickly next morning.

Somethig on the Piccadilly line would be great.

Thanks

Fiona

We stayed at The Rembrandt a couple of years ago, just down the road five minutes from Harrods and near the South Kensington Tube station. This hotel is also directly across the road from the Victoria and Albert Museum. We loved the hotel, it had been recently renovated, staff were nice too.

Brompton Road is home to some high priced real estate. If you're willing to take a bus a short distance or the Underground for two or three stops you'll find a selection of hotels that won't break the bank.

Near Earl's Court have a look at London Lodge, the Premier Inn Kensington in Knaresborough Place, Best Western Burns, Best Western Boltons and K&K George. A short distance from Gloucester Road station consider the Millennium Bailey's, Crowne Plaza Kensington, Best Western the Cromwell, the Park International Hotel and the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum.

Both Gloucester Road and Earl's Court stations have easy access from Heathrow on the Piccadilly line, with the journey from the airport taking about half an hour. The Piccadilly line carries on to Knightsbridge from both stations, but the number 74 bus is a good option as well, calling just opposite the main entrance of Harrods in Brompton Road.

As TP says Knightsbridge is just about the most expensive district to stay in London partly because nearly everything is or aspires to be 5 star. The Rembrandt mentioned above is comparatively slumming it being a 4 star with rate of 175 GBP for your date.

'Reasonable' can mean different things to different people and basically the further west you go along the Piccadilly Line rates tumble dramatically.

Probably Earls Court is a good place to look if reasonable means 90 -130 GBP for a room.

Try the Premier Inn Kensington and Olympia, Best Western Burns, Trebovir Hotel and Carnation Hotel.

At weekends some of the 4 stars deep discount to about 100-30 GBP this time of year around Gloucester Road area. Usual suspects are the Copthorne Tara, Holiday Inn Kensington Forum, Millenium Gloucester and Quality Crown Hotel Kensington

You can get to Harrods quite quickly from anywhere on the piccadilly line so it's not important to stay in Knightsbridge which is one of the most expensive areas.

It's worth bearing in mind that Harrods doesn't open until 10am so you can get there in time for them opening from some of the locations suggested here.

When in London I stay at the Tavistock Hotel near Bloomsbury. It is very close to Russell Square which is on the Piccadilly Line. Get on the tube at Heathrow and about 1 hour later get off at Russell Square and 5mins walk to the hotel. Next day a tube ride will take you to Harrods
