There are many markets in London selling all sort of things. Covent Garden market in Central London is great for street entertainment, cool shopping and on certain days sells crafts etc - great atmosphere and you can spend hours wandering around and as its near Leicester Square and Piccadilly you can stroll off to other parts to shop etc. Also Portobello Market is where you get vintage clothes, antiques and very funky alternative shops plus small quaint cup cakes and tea shops to keep you going. Also in the City area of London (Business district) there is Spitalfields market which again sells crafts, unusual clothing and jewellery with small individual shops and its a totally different part of London to see - the East End part of London as oppposed to the West End where Covent Garden is! Enjoy!!

I can't recall seeing street entertainers at markets other than Covent Garden- so that may be your best choice .

Incidentally, it may be a language misunderstanding but here 'knock off' would refer to things that are either fake or stolen- illegal in other words.

As they are two young girls, they may also like Camden Market. If you want an authentic London market them maybe a trip to Walthamstow would be worthwhile. Reputed to be the longest street market in Europe.

Otherwise, I would agree with Ali24 suggestions.

I agree Camden market will be ideal for 19 years and for street entertainment take them for a stroll in Covent gardens

You could take them up to the balcony of the Punch & Judy pub in Covent Garden for a great view of the buskers in front of the church. It can get raucous in the evening but is perfectly OK in the afternoon. (Before other people recommend the Cove pub instead - that has closed.) If you want to know where it is, just stand at the church and look up and you'll see it in front of you. (NB legal drinking age is 18.)

Take them to a car boot sale at Capital Car Boot in Pimlico:

No entertainment as such, but bargains and interest galore.

That sounds like a very good idea, once you've found out what a "car boot" is.

Yeah, so a bit like a flea market in US speak. It's the quirkiest car boot I've ever been to though, half the stalls aren't even car based and some of it's indoors.
