Best Euopean Destination from Stansted Airport?

I'm trying to plan a quick getaway for my husband and I from Stansted Airport.

Which destinations served by RyanAir/EasyJet (or someone cheap!) flying into destinations that are easy to access the main attractions or public transportations.

I ask because I know some airports are far out or not well located.

Basically I could go many places - not picky but want it to be simple and quick to see and do things upon arrival.

Thanks! :)

Ryanair tends to use airports that are distant from the destinations!

Try Berlin or Amsterdam. Good transport links and lots to see.

Or take a fast train to Lille, Brussels or Paris, from central London. You'll be in a foreign city, before you would have emerged from security at Stansted.

FWIW I would say fly to Amsterdam - excellent transport link from Schipol to Centraal Station - or Eurostar to Brussels - so simple and stress free you just have to experience it to believe it.

If you push me I'd say go to Amsterdam ... especially if you've not been before.

Barcelona is a good choice. Easyjet flies to the main airport. Cross the bridge on arrival to the station and the train will drop you right under Plaza Catalunya at the end of the Ramblas. Barcelona is very walkable in this area, though you will need the metro to go to places like the Sagrada Familia and the Parc Guelle. Don't miss the city museum, which takes you underground to the excavated remains of Roman Barcelona which are actually under the medaeval heart.

Shannon! Short flight < 1hr 20mins. Gateway to the west of Ireland. Visit Bunratty Castle & Folk Park, the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, lovely beaches, fabulous golf courses, Ennis, Galway, etc, etc, etc. Lots to see and do and no language barrier :)

It would probably be better if you chose a few destinations and then asked the questions. There are innumerable destinations fron STN served by Easyjet, Ryanair and other airlines.

Wroclaw is lovely but I refuse to fly with Ryanair any longer. However Wizzair are cheap and do fly there from Luton.

Also, it is only half an hour from the airport into town and costs about £3 on the local bus.
