Stansted to Hotel in Bayswater

Hi,

We are arriving in London on a Saturday afternoon in November and would like to know the best way to get to our hotel in Bayswater (tube: Queensway / Bayswater). We are a family of 4 with 3 luggage bags and individual hand luggage / back packs. As this is our first time to London and after a long haul flight, we are thinking of pre-booking an airport taxi from Stansted Taxi & Chauffeurs - has anyone used their service before?

Or is it easy taking the Stansted Express to Liverpool or buses from the airport to Victoria Station? Appreciate your views, please.

The Stansted Express goes to Liverpool Street station. It does not go to Liverpool!

The full station name is important. There are also some trains direct from Stansted to Liverpool, the city in north west England. If you ask for the "Liverpool train" you may end up a long long way from Bayswater!

The coach is the cheapest option from the airport. There are many services but the Victoria route takes you to the side of London where you need to be.

With a large group of you, a pre booked car is a reasonable choice. Search these forums, there are many many providers that others have recommended.

But there ISN'T a Liverpool station in London

There's a Liverpool STREET repeat STREET station

And there's a station (called Euston) where you can catch a train to Liverpool

but no Liverpool station

The Stansted Express is certainly the fastest way into London, if you are watching your wallet it may not be the best way if cost is important to you.

From Liverpool Street its 10 stops on the Underground to Queensway (Bayswater) i.e. Liverpool Street is the other side of the centre from Bayswater.

Terravision run a bus to Liverpool Street that is much cheaper, but slower than the Stansted Expres train.

Personally I'd consider taking the National Express bus to Stratford then the Central Line Underground. Stratford is only 3 stops further down the Central Line than Liverpool Street. Using this route you keep the low cost of the bus but avoid much of the possible road congestion delays of going further into the centre..

handfordr - Appreciate your kind explanation of the options available.

Generally how is the road condition on a Sat afternoon? If road congestion is not too bad, taking a taxi may seem worthwhile. The airport taxi quoted us GBP110 whereas the Stansted Taxi & Chauffeurs slightly lower. However, if congestion is quite bad, I will need to explore the options you put forth.

Thanks.
