Visting London this weekend- is It safe

Hi I shall be visiting this weekend, and shall be staying at following hotel:

Premier Inn, London Kew

52 High Street, Brentford, TW8 0BB, United Kingdom

Is this in riot affected area, and if so to what extent..

I am mostly not looking to cancel my holidays, however would like to know that situation around this area in advance so that I can take appropriate precautions..

No riots in Brentford as far as I know.

There's a big river there, though, and people do drown in it.

Also, there is heavy traffic and some people are killed by it. Be careful crossing the road.

Other than that, you should be OK.

It’s only a minor point here, but what you are calling a riot many regard as a minor disturbance. Yes, a few shops got burned down and robbed, but this is the result of a few restless youths, who are out for a new pair of trainers (sneakers) and mobile phone.

I saw on the news the way that some of the foreign media were reporting the situation in London and I can say its grossly exaggerated, you have to remember that for foreign correspondent based in London, it is their job to report the worst example they can find (for one its boost their screen time and pay). After all if they reported the truth they would not be in the job for very long. Still some of the reports were funny indeed and a chance for Iranian and Syrian television to get their own back on us.

I can however, safely say that as was reported by Russian news that London Zoo was not looted and the only wild animals roaming the streets were not lions, tigers but a few unruly youths who could all be introduced to Mr Rattan.

of course if you want to visit the "riot" areas yourself you will find some boarded up shops but a lot of people have been showing their community spirit by going to help clear up. Probably more people trying to help clear up than were involved in the incidents.

One point to note: Brentford is not the most attractive of town centres. If you want to get out and about locally, head for Richmond or Chiswick

Judging from the long threads on other forums about pickpocketing and scam artists in Paris and some other places, central London is still safer and less hassle for tourists than many other cities, notwithstanding a bit of looting in some suburbs.

If you're an expert on London, andy, it seems odd that in all your many posts you have not once shared your knowledge on this or any UK forum.

I live in central-ish London and as far as I can see not only is all peaceful, but people are not seriously concerned except in the mildest of ways. They are certainly not concerned for their own safety or that of visitors as there seems little reason to be.
