Looking for things you love about London

Hello all.

I'm going to spend a week in London at the end of August and though I've made quite a list of things to see (including the Tate Modern, Tate Britain, 221B Baker Street, Hyde Park and many more), I'm looking for that thing that gets you, the specific places that you loved when you were there (or are there right now).

Looking forward to walking a lot and since I'm going alone, I get to make all the decisions. :-)

So go on, share with a nervous traveler.

What was the thing you love most about London?

Of the major sights, Westminster Abbey and St Pauls Cathedral. Big Ben too, but you can't really miss that.

Museums, the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms.

Off the beaten path, tour of Charterhouse (they have a website), and a self guided garden tour of London from www.london-footprints.co.uk

A bit bizarre but... Getting squashed on a tube train is a must at least once :)

The view from Greenwich Observatory.

Strolling around Borough Market with a glass of Prosecco.

Regents Park and the canal.

The river cruise from Parliament to Hampton Court.

Having a glass of wine at the back of the Clipper as it does 35knots past Docklands.

Upstairs and front row of a No.15 Routemaster bus travelling from Regents Street to the Tower of London.

Just strolling around the backstreets, away from the traffic and the crowds.

The Houses of Parlaiment tour was one of the highlights of my trip. The House of Commons was on the news this week and I was like 'I stood there!!!(you are not allowed to sit down)'

Kew Gardens was wonderful too, nice break from busy London. The view of Buckingham Palace from the bridge in the lake @ StJames Park, StPauls(I dare you not to go 'wow' when you see the interior), Churchill War Room, the ceiling of Banqueting House, Covent Garden is always a favourite and I also always plan a day @ Hampton Court Palace.

The saxophonist in Piccadilly Circus tube. As my usual hotel was there the music always made me feel I was 'coming home'
