DD, DH etc, what do they stand for?

Hi

Stupid question perhaps but I'm confused... I keep coming across DD, DH etc in posts. I'm guessing one of them(DH?) is "the other half", but what does DD then stand for or do I have it all wrong? And did I miss any?

Thanks!

Inge

Dear Daughter, Dear Husband etc.

It's something I've mainly seen on here, it doesn't appear on other fora that I frequent.

It's an American thing - all over the US city forums and other, similar chat sites.

Yes, I used to wonder what it stood for, the americans started it but now we've all adopted it from them.

I always wondered what the acronyms stood for as well.

As a confimed Laahndoner, I think I will refer to my nearest and dearest as TS (trouble and strife) and DL's (dustbin lids) from now on.

I had to look them up. But some of these abbreviations are quite useful, IMO.

They are but if you don't know what they stand for it is confusing. Thanks for clearing it up! Is there also a DW and DS then? DU, DA, ... :)

To be honest I've never grasped what they actually mean so when someone uses the acronym I just make a mental note that it's some sort of entity, possibly close or related to them but other than that I don't really care.

My DFJLQ is coming to study at Oxford for a term......... (You what??)
