Heathrow Shuttle

Anyone taken the heathrow shuttle from Heathrow to London? We are staying at the Vandon House and it is is $51 USD for a roundtrip for one person. Any insight would be great.

Cheaper by tube. Easier by car service ie prebooked cab (and should not be much more expensive).

I think the search function could use a substantial enhancement - the useful sort, not an enhancement t hat makes one want to rech for the nearest jug of Pimm's.

Having said that, the shuttle lhook mentioned is pricey and will probably take longer to reach Vandon House than the Underground journey will take. WIth no scheduled line closures (in the next few weeks) that will have an impact on the journey it shouldn't take more than 45 mintues from airport to central London.

Piccadilly line towards Cockfosters from the airport. Alight at Hammersmith and walk across the platform - takes ten seconds - for an eastbound District line train. Alight from that train at St James's Park station.

There are 30 steps up from train platform to ticket hall, which is at street level. Use the Victoria Street way out and that's it. Maximum fare £5 per person.

Not sure what shuttle you are looking at (there are 2 main ones) and as the above posts suggest only people from countries with poor public transport who just assume public transport is not an option tend to use them

The main one HotelbyBus is currently charging 30 GBP return.

As so few people use these shuttles its just about the slowest way to travel into London and one of the most expensive. You will be very lucky if you actually leave the airport within 90 minutes of landing.

The Underground is at most 10 GBP return and probably a lot faster than a shuttle and runs every 5 minutes..
