Is chiswick too far to stay to attend the Summer Olympics?

We are a family of 4 traveling to London for the Summer 2012 Olympics. Is Chiswick far from the main London facilities liek the Excel Centre? How diffiult will it be to travel to events from Chiswick?

Would it be a better idea to pay 800 pound more to stay in Chelsea?

Any suggestions would be helpful as we are not familar with the area.

The main Olympic venues are in East London, Chelsea and Chiswick are in West London, but since Chiswick is less than 5 miles further west I would say if you can save yourself £800 by staying there its well worth doing.

Chiswick itself is a very nice area but its more surburban with nice shops and safe. Having said that, its a big area served largely by the district line. If you are very close to say Turnham Green tube or Stamford Brook, they are very nice parts of Chiswick.

You are quite a track to the main Olympic site in Stratford - your best bet would be to change at Hammersmith to the Piccadilly Line and then at Holborn to the Central Line. All in you might be talking about 60 mins commute each way.

Some of the events are in Earls COurt which is 15 mins from Turnham Green.

When you say spending £800 more to stay in Chelsea, are you refering to a week, a day etc?

Chelsea itself does not benefit from great transport links. You would be better off staying in Earls COurt for example.

If you're thinking of booking a short stay flat, please post a link to the rental website. Another TALFer may know the flat or the area, and knowing where in Chiswick the flat is located will be helpful.

If you're thinking of booking a hotel, which are you considering?

Why not tell them what your rent is?

And what you have normally been charging

What's this ' what are you willing to pay' malarkey?

Always pays to be upfront doesn't it you wouldn't want someone to offer you less than the going now would you?

You might do much better paying out for an advert rather than advertise here on the cheap
