Stratford Upon Avon

Want to do a day trip and was wondering which day would be better- Sunday or Tuesday. Also, how long should we plan to be there and the must things to do. Thanks!

The Stratford upon Avon forum will advise about things to do on Sundays / Tuesdays

Regarding transport, I imagine a train from Marylebone station would be the best choice?

A train from Marylebone is one way but they are only every 2 hours or so. Alternatively you could catch a train from either Marylebone or Euston and get off at either Warwick or Leamington Spa and then take a10 minute taxi to Stratford.

Sunday will inevitably be busier than a Tuesday but not busy enough to be a problem.

The time required depends on what you want to do. Just walking around the town and river could easily take up a couple of hours. If you wanted to go round Shakespeare's Birthplace then add one hour. Take a walk around the new theatre and maybe have lunch in the rooftop restaurant or the riverside terrace cafe.

There are a number of other attractions which variously take 40 to 60 minutes each: Butterfly Farm; Creaky Cauldron and Falstaff's Experience, boat trips, rowing boat hire, cycle hire, whatever you want.

Basically you can easily fill 4 to 6 hours and then have a relaxing return train journey.
