I'd try posting on the London forum for more replies:

I like Kensington as a base; it is a nice area of London and you are well placed for Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park and then on to Buckingham Palace. I would get a travelcard, personally, to utilise the tube and bus system, as the city is a large one to be on foot all the time (for example, Kensington to St Paul's Cathedral would be 1hr 40 or so to walk).

To travel to Manchester you could try the Megabus, which is often very cheap:

$$ 1,000 should last you a week, at least. Less if you stay away from expensive places. (BTW, what is a $? US? AUS? Namibian?)

Food prices can be found on any supermarket or restaurant website.

Buy a transport card and you'll pay less than £10 per day for unlimited travel.

I have no idea about Megabus, but I think you should look at their website for details of prices and where they travel.

Sorry, beardless, as you are a student, you should be able to do your own research. Simply browse these forums or search for specific words using the search box above.

And be aware "text-speak" can be very irritating,

I suspect most of your questions are answered here.

Agree txt is a PITA.

And get a guide book. Manchester is a city 200 miles north west of London for which you need a separate ticket, probably rail.

Text speak. Acceptable when texting, but simply appalling on a forum like this. In my opinion of course !

I agree. If you expect people to take the time to answer your questions, the least you can do is use real words!
