Best UK Beach for a family

My daughter and I are planning a 6 week europe trip and we wanted to take a few days out from the whirlwind at a beach in the south of England in mid July. We're travelling everywhere by train so accessibility is important and we're from Australia so the beach must have sand!! any recommendations?

I disagree completely and utterly with those who say "Britain does not have any particularly good beaches". Frankly that is just nonsense. It doesn't have particularly godd weather, but good bveaches are numerous and widespread.

I don't think anybody has mentioned Hastings yet. It is very easy to get to by train from London and there are plenty of facilities as well as things to do and see.

No one has suggested Dymchurch yet? http://kent.villagenet.co.uk/dymchurch.php They call themselves, the playground for children or something like that, can't remember of the top of my head.

Or what about Greatstone? www.coastradar.com/beach-guide/beach.php… - that's quite good :)

Although I do recommend Camber too, just thought Ill get a couple more unsuggestions suggestions :)

Doesn't Hastings have a pebble beach? The OP specifically wanted a sandy beach.

We are taking time in the uk for a beach break because we need to be in London either side of that break. We thought since we will be Travelling frequently leading up to and after, a few days out would be nice. I'm certainly aware that a uk beach won't be the same as Australia, I was just trying to explain the desire to have sand not pebbles

So do you want to be in a town (with wet weather alternatives) or a small village or more remote location?
