Some tips for first time visitors(names)

Hi

In itinerarys I sometimes come across interesting names for places. Whilst I often smile when I come across them I still wanted to point a few out:

-its Covent Garden, not Convenent or Convent Gardens

-in London you take the tube or underground, not the metro*

-its StPancras not StPancreas

-the world famous bridge is called Tower Bridge not London Bridge(which is a bridge but probably not the one you want)

-if you want a tea with sandwiches, scones&cakes its an Afternoon Tea. With a High Tea you get hot food as well

Hope this helps and please add anything I missed

*a metro is a free newspaper you can take with you on the tube

And Liverpool Station is in Liverpool, not London. (plus numerous variants)

The ones that always make me smile are: the Cotswalds and Edinburough or Edinburg, oh and not forgetting Stonehedge.

Good idea but the sort of people who make those kinds of mistakes almost certainly don't read posts like this (or have genuine literacy problems)!

Or both.

Big Ben is a bell, so 99.9% of tourists have never actually seen Big Ben.

They have only seen the Clock Tower of the Palace of Westminster.

Sorry to be pedantic. ;-D
