Beer for non beer drinker

I have never had an English pub experience from all my trips to London. I expect to change that next week.

The problem is I have never really like beer or any alcoholic drinks. When I do drink, I tend to lean towards something sweet and fruity (ie. margarita or mojito)

So are there any beers out there that are somewhat sweet or fruity? Or am I completely out of luck.

You don't need to drink beer or, indeed, anything alcoholic in a pub. Many people have soft drinks.

A glass of white wine is always an alternative.

A Belgian fruit beer - cherry flavoured or raspberry flavoured - might be what you want, in that case. They are available in some English pubs but it might take a little looking to find them. Or, of course, someone reading this might think "I know just the place!".

If you go to a Fullers pub, they may well have Honey Dew which has enough honey in the brew to make it slightly sweet. Worth haing a half to see if you like it.

Are you writing from the mistaken belief that pubs only serve beer? They dont.

Drink what you like, plenty of people go into a pub and dont drink beer of any sort.

I'm in the same boat... I hate beer, am not all that fond of wine unless it's sweet, and am very happy with anything sweet, and preferably bubbly. Bring on the Mike's Hard Lemonade! I've been wondering if there's anything that would be common in pubs, like a sweet sparkling cider, that might do the trick.

If you're really wanting an alcoholic 'beer' drink, try asking for a Crabbies alcoholic ginger beer. It's quite sweet, has an obvious ginger flavour; there's also a version with a hint of orange added.

A lager shandy is an option.

Pubs serve 'alcohol' in all guises, just ask the barman for a recommendation

Perhaps those that like a soft drink but something fruity would like J20 or Appletiser.

There are 'alcopops' for those that want a sweet fruity fizzy drink with a 'kick'!

'sweet' Cider (in the UK Cider is an alcoholic brew by the way) would be Woodpecker

Cider would be a good option - but be careful - ususally has a higher alcohol content than the ales.

You can order 1/2 pints of anything on tap. It's a good way to try different things and you aren't committed to a huge pint of something you don't like. The barman may also let you try a small sample, if he isn't too busy.

I've found a delicious bottled cider. It's from Sweden and it's called Rekorderlig. The strawberry-lime flavor is wonderful!!
