Silverstone Circuit Transportation

Seems like very complicated to commute (as a tourist) to travel from Wimbledon district to Silverstone for Formula 1. It has so many stops and changes. Is there any better tips?

I assume you've seen

silverstone.co.uk/popup/…

Most people drive - which I understand you may not wish to do

Megabus may be your best bet - from Victoria Coach station, no changes

Thanks. When I do the search function, which district does Victoria Coach Station and Silverstone belong to. Sorry that i am totally naive to UK. Thanks

Stagecoach bus from Northampton Rail Station would seem to be the way to go.

Trains to Northampton leave from London Euston. From Wimbledon there is an alternative: train to Clapham Junction (two stops), then the hourly Southern service to Watford Junction or Milton Keynes, and change there for Northampton.

Wimbledon is admittedly not the best location for starting a journey to Silverstone.

Do the buses have special routes into the circuit so they aren't held up by the queues ?

This is the megabus site:

http://uk.megabus.com/default.aspx

They run a special service to Silverstone on race days only - start point London, destination Silverstone

If it's running on the day you want it will be far the best way of getting there

Your options are:

1. Megabus from Victoria station to the circuit each day (looks like it's £13.50 each way, so cheaper than train + bus/taxi)

2. Train to Northampton and Stagecoach bus to the circuit each day

3. There's also the Megabus service from Milton Keynes station to the circuit, but that only runs on Sunday

The buses don't have any special routes to the circuit, so getting held up in queues around Silverstone village, particularly on race day, is quite likely. Not sure about the Megabus, but the buses from Northampton also don't drop off actually inside the circuit, they will drop close to the village and you have to walk in from there.

Silverstone is a great experience, I hope you enjoy it!

On race day there are buses running frequently from the station to the circuit, every 10 minutes or so. On the Friday and Saturday you get one bus per hour. There is no special route but it is pretty quick.
