How long from Heathrow T5 to Baker st. station by road

Hi,

Our flight is scheduled to arrive on wednesday morning 8:45am at Heathrow T5. We have North American passports. One checked bagged. We have been arranged to be picked up by a airport transport company to drop us off near Baker St. station area. Question is there reasonable chance that we can be at Baker St. station by 11:00am considering we have to use this taxi service, it is that time of weekday and before Olympics.

Thanks for any input I can get !

95% chance you won't make it. At least one hour will be taken up just with the formalities of entering the UK and then on a normal day it's another hour into London - but given the review of the immgiration service and it's less skilled staff today along with the ongoing problems with the M4, it's virtually certain everything will be slower and take far longer

It's a very great deal faster to get the Heathrow Express in your case.

20 mins to Paddington, max 10 mins from train arriving into platform to exiting from Bakerloo Line tube station at Baker St.

Still can't guarantee getting through immigration in 90 mins, but - even without the current problems on the road in - it will ALWAYS be quicker from Heathrow to Baker St by train

PS. It MIGHT, just, be faster if you have a motorbike waiting

But for your journey, a car or conventional taxi will always be a slower option than a train..

Add in an average wait of 7.5 minutes (the HEX runs only 4 times an hour) on top of that time plus whatever it takes from T5 arrivals to the platform it decreases your chances of missing it to 80%.

Where are you going from Baker Street such that you *must* be there for 11:00am?

Considering the issues that Alanrow has highlighted, you will struggle to be at Baker Street for 11 - you haven't explained WHY you want to be there for 11, but if you're intending to arrange something for when you get there I would err on the side of caution and not book any activities etc until the afternoon.

Is it essential that you take a car service into London, or might the train be an option? The Heathrow Connect (not the Express, which is really poor value for money) runs to Paddington every 30 minutes.

The are at T5 so they'd have to take a shuttle to T1/T3 first which increases travel time by around 15 minutes. In any case they don't have the time to faff on with the cheapest and throwing money at the problem is the only chance they have

Whatever the mode of transport, it looks like 11am is optimistic! If it was me I would accept that 11am is a write-off, do the shuttle to T1/T3 and take the Connect, but perhaps the OP has a particular reason to need to use whatever method gives the most chance of getting there by 11.

Thanks for the input. Unfortunately we already have tickets (I believe non-refundable) for Eurostar. Plan was to drop luggage at hotel near Baker St. station and take the taxi to St. Pancras to catch the 12:20 train to Paris. I imagine if leave Baker st. area by 11:15, should be able to make it via taxi to St. Pancras by 11:40, enough for boarding time for that train.

========================================================

IF you get through Immigration in time you might be better of getting the tube to Kings Cross St Pancras and leaving luggage in left luggage there to maximise your chances of making that train.

The alternative is to see if you can buy another ticket for a later train that day. If you miss the Eurostar with what is presumably a non flexible ticket you will have to buy a new one on the day that could be costly.

There are currently later trains for £73 (the on the day price, if there is availability at all could be £270+).

Why though are you trying to dump luggage at a hotel in London just to head to Paris?
