What is the best afternoon tea in London?

I will be in London for 3 days in September and I'd really like an authentic afternoon tea service. Any suggestions?

Thanks

If you're looking for a smart hotel tea, the Dorchester, Claridges, the Savoy, the Connaught, the Capital and the Lanesborough all offer tea services that have their fans.

There are some more suggestions in the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) at the top of the main page

It's about halfway down the page in the section on Dining and Drinking.

I would also recommend the Cadogan in Knightsbridge for a hotel tea with history going back to Oscar Wilde

Maybe I can ask this another way: which is the best afternoon tea for the best price, i.e. not necessarily which is the cheapest but which afternoon tea offers the best value (and perhaps is the cheapest)?

My wife enjoys this one. But if you don't bother at home why pay over the odds here?
