London Travel Card 1 Day.

If you don't use the dated travel card, can it be used on another day for 24 hours?

No.

If postdated, ordinary cards can be returned, unused, before their validity starts.

Olympic one day cards are valid only for the day the underlying Olympic tickets is valid for, and can't be refunded unless you return both the card and the tickets in advance.

You can use your One Day Travelcard (Both Off Peak/Anytime) only on the date of validity.

.... so if you are not sure you are going to use it, don't buy until the day. Or use Oyster Pay-as-you-go.

Also, it isn't a '24-hour' card , in the sense of 24 hours from first use. The peak one-day Travelcard is valid anytime on the date shown and until 04.30 the next day. The off-peak one-day Travelcard is valid from 09.30 until 04.30 the next day.
