Baffled Bev

I have received a private message off someone who I have never heard of tonight.

Unfortunately I couldn't answer the persons question.

I am not concerned about this but curious as to how this person found me.

Has anyone got any clues?

They have probably been reading through the forums, or have done a search and found a thread you participated in.

From there it is a simple matter of clicking your name, and hitting "send message."

Why would this be surprising?. As described in the previous post it is very easy. You are allowed to block individuals if there is a problem or even stop private messages directed to you.

pontevecchio59 maybe I am just dim re TA.

It isn't something that I have come across before so I was curious that's all.

I didn't say that I was concerned and there is no reason for me to block this person.

I was just sorry that I couldn't answer the question.

Ok?

Just advise them to repost the same question ON the relevent forum, where hopefully they will get a number of useful answers, eventually!

That is what I do on the rare occasion that something similar happens to me!

Even if I can answer the question, I do try to encourage 'whoever' to post on the forum, where answers may benefit more peeps than just one!!

It's mystifying as to why people send private messages sometimes, especially when they would get more answers on the general forum. Perhaps they just think some of us are nice and approachable, so maybe we should be flattered when it happens.

I got one too, a week ago. I just ignored it. Wansteader, that's a nice, if generous, attitude.

I did reply to the message saying that I thought it had been sent to me by mistake.

The question has since been asked on the forum and received a few replies.

EssexWanderer yes your approach to private messages is a good one.

I didn't think of that.

With the message I couldn't ignore it because it was very polite and I am pleased that the person involved posted the question on the forum and got some answers.

Not sure you fully understand the ethos of TA.
