Sorry, another 2-4-1 question.

Hello TALF contributors. I realise its been asked a lot lately and I have read all the responses to other travellers questions, including the great post by TexScott. I just want to clarify if my understanding is correct. I have an oyster card from a trip earlier this year. If in 2013 when my husband and I return to London do we both need to purchase the paper ticket in order to qualify for the 2-4-1 or is it possible for me to reload the oyster card leaving him with the paper 7 day travelcard thus allowing us both to benefit from the offer. Am I right in thinking that with the 7 day paper travelcard we would just need a daily card to get from Heathrow to our accommodation and would then buy the 7 day card from eg Waterloo station near where we are staying?

Both need the correct paper Travelcard. For Heathrow to Waterloo you could use your Oystercard or pay the single fare which will be less than a one day ticket

The 2 for 1 promotion is sponsored by the railways so you need a railway issued ticket to qualify for 2 for 1.

Therefore nothing held on an Oyster including Travelcard qualifies and nothing issued at Heathrow also qualifies for 2 for 1 even from the train stations.

If you are staying at Heathrow to get a zone 1-6 Travelcard valid for 2 for 1 you will need to get a bus to West Drayton, Hayes or Feltham and buy your Travelcard from the railway stations there or alternatively travel into London and get the Travelcard from a mainline train station in the centre.

You will also need a passport size photo for an id card from the railways, (unlike if you purchased a 7 Day Travelcard loaded onto Oyster that doesn't qualify for 2 for 1)
