Underground single tickets

Hi

Someone has asked me how much a single ticket (cash fare - not on Oyster) is for Zone 1 and Zones1-2.

Could anyone tell me please?

Thank you.

Kate

Hi,

This link is extremely helpful for all such questions: tfl.gov.uk/tfl/… but take a single from Kings Cross to Covent Gardern that's £4.00 cash, but if you use Oyster £2.30 and if you have a railcard it drops to a ridiculous £1.00 - I must get my railcard added to my oyster card - it'll save a small fortune.

I would recommend though getting yourself an Oyster Card you save more than £2.70 on some journeys.

Can I ask - why do they need a single ticket?

If they are crossing London between rail terminals and they have a through ticket, the Underground journey is included in the price .....

They want everyone to use Oyster, which to be fare most people will, or have a Travelcard or train ticket they includes Tube travel.

And is that single trip all they are doing?

Oh, I didn't realise you can use the train ticket on the tube.

They're coming in to Victoria from Gatwick - normal train, not the Gatwick Express, then travelling to Fulham. Then they're going to Covent Garden and back to Fulham in the evening. Then the following day, back to Victoria to return to Gatwick.

So would they be able to use the Gatwick-Victoria ticket to travel to Fulham and then back from Fulham to Victoria the following day on their return ticket?

Thanks.

Kate

No, what the othe rmembers were referring to is cross Londond travel, for example between Gatwick Airport and, say, Norwich. A through ticket would allow travel between Victoria and Liverpool Street Underground stations. Fares to zone 1 and zone 2 destinations will be available, though may not represent the best value.

Where exactly are they going? It may be better to change at Clapham junction and goto Imperial Wharf or West Brompton via the Overground.

No - they would need a Gatwick to Fulham (or whatever zone Fulham's in) ticket

That might or might not be cheaper than separate tickets

Sounds as though a travel card is what they need.

They can get a Travelcard included in their ticket at Gatwick that allows travel in London for the day on Tube, buses and rail.
