Where is the best place to find old vintage bus roll signs in London?
We will also be in the Cotswolds.
Alfie's Antiques in Church Street might have bus blinds, but for the most part I've seen them only at eBay.
This is online, not sure if the guy has an actual location you can visit.
Might be a chance the transport museum at Covent Garden has something?
If you want to see them rather than buy them the Oxford Bus Museum at Hanborough (near Blenheim) will probably have a few on display
Covent Garden certainly has them on show - not for sale afaik
Very specialised, the only place I can think of is the London Transport Museum, which is in the piazza at Covent Garden.
There is a stall in Greenwich Market that sells the old bus signs:
Thanks everyone. I just love Tripadvisor. Your comments and suggestions are priceless!! Can't wait to go on our trip....
Despite the heading, the poster is talking about bus rolls rather than vintage signs.
The last time I saw these on sale was during a bus garage open day at Fulwell, southwest London a few months ago. The people who were selling them were a commercial organisation, or it may have been the bus company.
Perhaps some of these dealers can assist you, or at least suggest other people to contact.
See the link below; these are the LT Museum shop ‘bus blinds ‘poster collection.
I also saw actual bus blinds being sold at a Fulwell depot event last year, same as Glyn1
London Transport Museum Depot in Acton, West London also has behind scenes events and open weekends; there is a large collection on display of all LT period signs at the depot, these can be seen if you visit on an open event.
You can usually buy tham at the various vintage bus events which are held around the country during the Spring / Summer / Autumn - when is your visit ?
