Closest tube stop to St. Paul's on District/Circle line??

I'm not sure if the tube maps I've been looking at are drawn to scale. It looks like either Cannon Street or Mansion House are the closest stops for a visit to St. Paul's using the District or Circle lines. Which would be the better station to use? Thank you.

The tube map is not drawn to scale. Mansion House is quite close to St Paul's Cathedral.

If you come out of Cannon Street, your map will show you are just about opposite "Walbrook." If you walk up that street you will come to the church of St. Stephen Walbrook, a perfectly stunning, airy, intensely mathematical (!) church also by Christopher Wren. The altar has often derogatorily been compared to a Camembert cheese. Its then an easy walk to St. Paul's.

You might find the map below useful, you can see how the tube and rail stations relate geographically to places of interest like St Pauls.

Your able to see the real shape of the tube lines.

The closest stations to St. Pauls on the District and Circle lines are Mansion House and Blackfriars. Both are about the same distance. If it matters, Blackfriars is step free with escalators up from the platform to street level, while Mansion House has a lot of stairs (between 40 and 50) to street level.

A bus might be more convenient.

A great many buses stop near St Paul's. From Charing Cross take the 11, 15 or 23; from King's Cross take the 17, from County Hall and the London Eye take the 100 .... have a look here: tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/…mansion-house.pdf The stops for City Thameslink shown on the preceding spider map aren't very clear; they are stops F and G here: tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/…blackfriars-a4.pdf with stop F at the entrance to City Thameslink station, just east of Ludgate Circus.

There are six Routemasters running on the Heritage route between Trafalgar Square and the Tower. Travelcards and PAYG on Oyster are accepted on Routemasters as with any other London bus: board, find a seat and wait for the conductor to come by. There are half a dozen Routemsters on the number 9 service between Trafalgar Square and Kensington High Street as well.

Bank is busy with buses too. tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/…bank.pdf

pd2111 - where will you be coming from and, after St. Paul's, where will you be heading to?
