Another visit report - Freemasons Hall

This is the building off Covent Garden which was used as the MI5 building in Spooks. (I speculate that it was originally used as a double for the former M15 building in Curzon Street, the only building in London with a machine gun emplacement built into the design; sadly now replaced with an office block). Apparently the interior was also used for numerous TV things such as Poirot.

It is fully open to the public and I took a free guided tour.

It's an amazing Art Deco building with incredible decorations internally. It survived the Blitz intact and every inch is manicured. There are also some very interesting historical artefacts, letters, paintings, etc.

You don't have to know anything about Freemasonry to appreciate the building!

Thanks for the tip, it looks stunning! I had read about it before and now that I know it's fully open to the public, we're looking to still add it to our next visit.

Could you please tell me approximately how long a tour lasts, verity1?

Hi Monikavn

Tour is about an hour, but you can wander round the museum for as long as you like.

Some areas may not be accessible if they are in use for meetings. Check with reception when you arrive or call ahead.

Thanks NWKent, that's helpful info. Provided we have no travel delays, it looks like we may just make it in time for the Friday 4pm tour in our May weekend. If not, we'll add it on our list for a next journey :-)
