Safest area to stay in London for single female?

I will be staying in London for a week at the beginning of June and I am thinking of renting an apartment? What is the best/safest area to stay? Ideally I would prefer to spend 650-700 pounds total for the week (around roughly $1000), but I am flexible.

Any advice?

London is a very safe city to visit.

You might start by reading the "do's and don'ts of renting a flat in London" which is a sticky at the top of the London forum--this will show you what to look for, and how to avoid being scammed.

Then have a look at this list, created by dedicated Tripadvisor member TexScott:

You will be safe virtually anywhere in London, don't worry about it. Obviously isolated bad things can happen anywhere, and there are such things as pickpockets everywhere.

Wow there are a lot of apartment choices in that Google doc. Anyone stay in an apartment recently that they really liked/had a good experience?

You might look in the trip reports, or do a search in the London forum for apartments.

What are your arrival and departure dates? I'll see if I can suggest some flats.

There is strong demand for flats this summer, so most of the places I checked are already booked.

Here are few options:

Above your budget (£910 = £50 cleaning fee = £960 week)

This is a new listing, so no reviews (but they accept HomeAway secure payment - so your money should be safe). Above your budget at £850 week.

A small studio, but reasonably priced.

This landlady has several flats at this location, so contact her for availability (above your budget at £850).

Her listing on VRBO showing availability http://www.vrbo.com/369311

In addition to these, you really need to take the time and contact the booking agents listed in post #2. If they have availability for your stay, then post links to those flats and we can provide some guidance.

Hi there, a nice and safe place to live in would be around south Kensington, Earls court or even high street Kensington. You will surely find a quality apartment with convenient services like housekeeping and the safety of an onsite porter or concierge in the budget you mentioned. Bays water and around Paddington are also easily connected, central and safe for solo females. Point West Apartments, Think Earls Court, Grand Plaza Bayswater, Princes Square Apartments by Maykenbel are some places to start.

All the best with your search.
