Hi Diana,

I would suggest a full day at Greenwich.

Going to Greenwich by boat, Greenwich Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, Greenwich Park, Royal Observatory all for starters.

It does of course depend on your boys' interests.

Greenwich is where the Meridan clock world time is gauged, you can also walk under the Thames using the Greenwich foot tunnel to Island Gardens Tower Hamlets www.sonicwonders.org/?p=436

From the Island Gardens you can take pictures of the Royal Navel College, which stands where the Palace of the Tudors stood, and were Henry VIII and Elizabeth I where born.

I would go to Greenwich - travelbob is correct that you could easily spend a full day there, there is plenty to do. Take a look at http://www.visitgreenwich.org.uk for ideas.

If it's going to be their only opportunity to visit another English town, I'd say Cambridge, but without knowing where else you will be going it's difficult to say. Do you intend to go to ther places outside London, eg Bath, Windsor or Brighton?

I think the boys would enjoy Greenich more so that would be my choice.

Although I live within 30 minutes bus ride of Cambridge, I'd actually suggest Greenwich, simply because I think there's a lot more that will entertain the boys, as Cambridge does have a couple of museums, I'm not convinced it would entertain kids that long. Although there's plenty of shops, and a new science hands on centre, its not that big.

I'm normally for suggesting Cambridge but this time I think Greenwich is a far better bet.

If they are interested in going to university in a couple of years time, they might like to see the Cambridge colleges.
