London Street Art, Murals and Graffiti: Where?

Hello Dear People!

I was wondering if anyone here could be so kind and name some areas/neighborhoods and or streets with great Street Art. I would love to see some while I'm there and want to map it all out so that I can do it the most time efficient way. Are there any Banksy's still around? That would be great however I just want to see Street art in general. Please let me know some of the best places. thanks a lot!

I did this walking tour around East London a couple of years ago. When I went we saw some Banksy art.

Most of the well known street art is off the side roads around Brick Lane, and in particular Truman Brewery. One area I strongly recommend is the Grey Eagle parking lot behind the brewery complex (see item 6 in this link http://wp.me/p2r6no-qc ). There are big installations here that change periodically, and Shepard Fairey work. You may also enjoy this site: http://inspiringcity.com/ which has a lot of current information on where the latest art is to be found.

oh man! you guys are too kind! I last was in London 7 years ago and sadly at that time I had very little knowledge of Street Art! I'm looking forward to all the great photos! Thanks again!

There was an article in The Telegraph newspaper some weeks ago all about street art. It told of lots of places, but mainly in the Shoreditch/Brick Lane area, as already mentioned. Look the newspaper up online and you will probably be able to find the article.

Shoreditch especially around Curtain Road and Hackney around Mare St.

There is one permanent Ben Eine mural on Middlesex Street and other stuff on Old St. It was there before he got famous. Think the gift that our Prime Minister gave to the U.S President..

Leake St by Waterloo Station is a possibility.

HAckney Road and side streets off Hackney Road; start at junction Mare st/Hackney Road and walk down towards Shoreditch. lots of pieces off main road; then have a look around Bethnal Green and Brick lane.

There's a few badly protected/damaged/obscured Banksy's around - Essex Road Islington has the Very Little Counts (under perspex and damaged) and the Happy Chopper is still visible but largely obscured by hoardings near Old St. There's a map of Stik's work on his website.
