The Park Plaza County Hall is close to Waterloo Station.

You can go to waterloo from Gatwick by getting a Southern Train from Gatwick to Clapham Junction, then switching to a train to Waterloo. Trains are very frequent on bth lies and you buy a through ticket from Gatwick.

I'd say an easier (and cheaper) way to get to Waterloo would be to take the First Capital Connect train from Gatwick to London Bridge. Get off there and wait at the same platform for a Charing Cross train, which you'd take one stop to Waterloo East (that's the through platform annex of Waterloo station).

At Gatwick, get a one day combination train/travelcard for First Capital Connect, for £13. That's cheaper than a single fare to Waterloo, and also gives you unlimited transport on buses, tubes, trains and the DLR for your day of arrival.

Don't panic. Only two trains, and it is a same platform connection.

At Gatwick, get the FCC train (final destination Bedford). Get off at London Bridge. Stay on the same platform then get any train going to Charing Cross (they pass every few minutes). Get off at the next stop, Waterloo East.

Easier to change at London Bridge because it is a same platform change. At Clapham Junction you'll need to go into the cross platform subway and change platform. Not a whole lot in it, but London Bridge is easier.

ADM12 - if you're concerned about changing trains, you can always go direct to Victoria (Southern) or London Bridge (First Capital Connect and hop in a black cab from there. There are in fact excellent bus routes from either which stop virtually outside the hotel but with luggage I'd keep it simple and avoid the long schlep from Waterloo East.
