Restaurants around Waterloo Road/ The Cut

Coming to that London for a few days and will be staying near Waterloo Road/ The Cut in SE1. Anyone recommend either decent pub food or Indian/ Chinese restaurants that are not too pricey

thanks

Few options -

TAZ - either just behind Southwark tube ststion or the one on The Cut, both are fantastic and offer amazing Turkish or Mediterranean food. http://www.tasrestaurants.co.uk/thecut.html

Olivelli - great Pizza restaurant on The Cut

The fire station - great pub at the end of the Cut under Waterloo station

I did a little more research and this appears to be the best Chinese in the area (although it gets rather average reviews): http://www.culturegrub.co.uk/

The prices have perked up but its still reasonable. Bangalore Express does some solid food. Its opposite Waterloo station on Waterloo Road, 2-3 doors away from Sainsbury local.

The South Bank is a 5 minute walk and there is the Ping Pong chain which does dimsum. I like Canteen which does British comfort food and is just across from Ping Pong.

There are loads of places to eat around here, have a stroll around and you'll find something. I second Tas, it's not expensive and has nice food.

At lunchtime on a weekday there are lots of food (takeaway) stalls on Lower Marsh covering a variety of cuisines and some have also started outside St Johns church which is next to Waterloo roundabout.

I also second Tas, which I really like for Turkish food.

There's no shortage of restaurants along The Cut. There are street food stalls and some cafés along Lower Marsh, including a good Chinese, if I recall correctly.
