If you book Advance tickets then you must travel on the specific, booked train only. Other tickets have more flexibility.

Where is your destination in central London, and at what time of day and on what day of the week does your flight arrive in London? There may be other options to the GEX and Southern trains depending on those parameters.

Instead of travelling to London Victoria, buy tickets on the day for the journey from Gatwick to Vauxhall. You'll need to change at Clapham Junction but it's an easy change as that station is now step free.

If you will use transport the remainder of that day in London, ask at the Gatwick rail station for tickets with Travelcards. You'll pay £31.50 for three adults travelling; that fare will include the journey from the airport to Vauxhall and one day Travelcards for use on arrival day, saving £16.20.

Groupsave and "advance" tickets are mutually exclusive. A Groupsave ticket is never tied to an individual train - the restriction with Groupsave is that it can't be used for the morning peak period.

Two things -

Firstly, Vauxhall railway station has a lot of stairs (45) down from the platforms to the ticket hall/street level. If you and your luggage are okay with that then fine. But if not, you may well want to take the (regular Southern, not Gatwick Express) train to Victoria and then an 8 minute bus ride back to Vauxhall (from stop L n the map below it would be the 2, 36, 185 or 436). That would be step free.

Secondly, you can Group Save the combi rail ticket/travelcard that TP mentions and get excellent savings. But note that the Group Save rules also apply to the travelcard for the rest of the day in London. That means the entire group will have to travel together for the remainder of that day.

In an earlier post you were mentioning six adults, is that still correct? If so then you could do GS4 (4 travelcards for the price of 2, and two individual cards) which gives some freedom, or GS3 (3 cards for the price of 2) giving you two groups of three. Same price either way. But just be aware of that restriction on GS'ing the combi travelcards.

Dalisay, I don't know the answer to your question but there is no need to ask the same thing 3 times! Have some patience. And bear in mind it's the start of the weekend and there are generally less people around to answer questions.

You cannot get a groupsave discount on 'advance' tickets, though you can buy groupsave ahead of time.

For those companies that offer it (not all do) it's available for any journey that meets its off peak requirements - the distance is immaterial.
