If you just want to visit Stonehenge only on a half day tour it doesn't really matter who you go with, Premium or Evan Evans they offer a near identical offering.

However, the 5 hour tour at most gives you one hour at Stonehenge which is largely 30 minutes listening to an audio tour device provided as part of admission and 5 minutes in the gift shop or grabbing a coffee.

You need to book in advance especially the morning tours that have hotel pick-ups as they don't visit a hotel unless someone has reserved a ticket.

Afternoon tours do not have hotel pick-ups

Most tours visiting Stonehenge make a day of it and visit at least one other destination.

We did three tours with Premium Tours. One of them was to Windsor, Stonehenge, and Bath. We were happy, and they delivered what they advertised. They also have tours to Stonehenge only, in the morning or evening. Search uk premium tours.

London Walks do a day trip to Stonehenge that includes Salisbury. No booking required; just turn up at the specified railway station: walks.com/Standalone/…default.aspx

Of course you could always do it by yourself: train to Salisbury and bus from there.

It is a long way to go just to see Stonehenge, which is why many people prefer to combine it with a trip to one or two other places. Unless you specialise in prehistoric Britain, it is difficult to make Stonehenge interesting for more than half an hour, and on a wet, windy or cold day half an hour can seem far too long.

Stonehenge will keep you interested for around 5 minutes. Pick which ever tour spends the least amount of time at the stones and gets you back to London the quickest.

Stonehenge is interesting for 5 minutes only if you haven't researched what you are looking at and the avenues and barrows which surround it. If you go there knowing the archaeological significance of the site then no tour will give you long enough there.

I just posted a trip report on our DIY trip to Salisbury and Stonehenge if you want to see how easy it is to do yourself, and much cheaper.

Stongehenge isa long way to go for something not very interesting. Unless of course you have a particular interest in archeology...and even then....

I suggest Viator. They are a reseller of tours but i have had great success with them in many cities throughout the world. They have a very good range of tours starting from 1/2 day trips to Stonehenge to multiple day trips from London.

www dot viator dot com forward slash London in case the link gets cut form the post.
