Horse Guard Parade - is it only on Changing of the Guard day

I see the schedule for Changing of the Guards in August are even days only. Is that the same for the Horse Guard Parade. Do they align with each other? I had originally had this planned for an odd day. But if Horse Guard Parade is everyday, I'll just do that.

Thanks

Horse Guards Parade isn't a parade, it's just the parade ground itself. The Changing of the Horse Guards takes place daily, and most people seem to prefer that to CoG at Buckingham Palace.

The Cavalry change is everyday at 11am (10am Sundays). It is separate to the Foot change at BP.

You can see some of the 'horse guards' in full uniform at Horse Guards Parade every day, some on foot, and usually 2 every day on horseback. Outside the parade ground in sentry boxes facing Whitehall. Its a permanent thing, no relation to Changing of the Guard at B. Palace, makes a nice walk and good photo opportunity too. Just walk down Whitehall from Trafalgar Square and you can't miss them.

For most of August the Cavalry is on holiday and the Guard is mounted by The King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, who are equally impressive.

Little tip - if you get to the corner of the Mall and Horse Guards around 10.50 am (an hour earlier on Sundays) you will see the new Guard come riding up the Mall. You can then follow them round to the Parade Ground to line up opposite the old Guard on the hour.

You can then either wait till the Old Guard leave or nip over to St James's Park for 20 minutes or so for some great views from the bridge across the lake.

i'm going to try and do this on Wednesday. We should get to our St. Ermin's hotel by 10, room probably won't be ready so we'll drop our bags and run out. Its very close to our hotel.

In addition to the Changing of the Guard at 11am, there is an Inspection of the Guard ceremony at 4pm also known as a Dismounting Ceremony - after which the horses are taken back to the stables. There is a small but pleasant museum with view into the stables worth visiting : see londonunveiled.com/2013/08/02/hcr-museum/ - gives you a little more to do here.
