London to Windsor Castle

Could anybody tell me how long it takes to get from London (Earl's Court) to Windsor Castle? Also, if you know the route to get there, that would be helpful. My husband and I were in London a few months ago and we went on a Golden Tour to Windsor, Stonehenge & Bath, which was nice to see all in one day, but they literally gave us 1.5 hours at Windsor Castle and we had to run back to the bus before they left without us - there just wasn't enough time to see anything and it looks like a very interesting place to explore for the afternoon.

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Thank you! :-)

From Earl's Court station, take the District line of the Underground towards Edgware Road and alight at Paddington. From there you'll need a National Rail train to Windsor & Eton Central. Travel time is about 40 minutes, with an easy change at Slough.

There is no need to buy tickets for the rail journey in advance; Off Peak returns on the day will be £10. If you will have Travelcards for zones 1 and 2 ask for the tickets to Windsor from the boundary of zone 2 and save a couple of pounds.

For train times, check www.nationalrail.co.uk

Alternatively you can take Overground from West Brompton, which can be reachable on foot from Earl's Court, toward Clapham Junction and transfer at Clapham Junction to national rail toward Windsor & Eton Riverside.
