How to get fromHeathrow to Trafalgar

Hello!

What is the best way to get from the Heathrow airport to our hotel near Trafalgar Square? What is the cheapest way that is also not too difficult with bags? I would think taxi would be the most expensive.

Thanks!

A black cab won't be cheap.

Depending on the time of day and day of the week your flight arrives, you may travel most of the way on the Underground, a step free journey, then take a taxi to your hotel. From any of LHR's three Tube stations, board a train towards Cockfosters. Alight at Green Park, where you'll find escalators up to the ticket hall then a lift up to street level. From there, depending on your hotel's location near Trafalgar Square, taxi fare shouldn't be more than £10. Maximum cash fare on the Underground is just £5.50 per person.

Let us know more about the journey, please.

We are staying at the Citadines Prestige Trafalgar Suare. We arrive on a Tues. at 9:45am. So I should go Cockfosters to Green Park? What is the Heathrow Express?

"What is the Heathrow Express?"

A really expensive train that doesn't go anywhere near your destination....

You can book a car service from the airport to the city for between £40 to £50. Direct door to door.

If you are looking at a cheaper option, you can use the underground subway as mentioned by TP.

Cockfosters is the end of the line where the tube goes too. Starts at heathrow - green park is half way between.

For the Citadines you can do either;

Tube. Max £5.50 per person (less off peak on Oyster). Piccadilly line to Hammersmith for easy cross platform change to District line to Embankment. Hotel about 3 mins walk.

Prebook a car service - should be around £35-40.

Whatever you do don't do HEX and cab or tube - expensive and inconvenient.

An easier and cheaper way would be to take the said Piccadilly Line to Hammersmith, walk 10 feet across the platform to the eastbound District Line and alight at Embankment. Citadines is almost next door and the fare will cost around £5.50 one way (less with an Oyster Card) and take around 45 minutes

Parklandwalk beat me to it again!

Do I buy the Oyster card in advance online or just wait until I get there? And is there a map of some sorts that shows the different tube stops?

Get your Oystercards here - any of the terminal tube stations at Heathrow which will also have mini pocket maps of the tube system.
