Where 'around' London - a large area - do you have in mind and what to you is 'cheap'.

Indeed, thats why most people don't bother driving. Why arent you taking a train? Without knowing where you are coming from its pointless advising, suppose you are coming from Leeds, would you want a cheap hotel/parking in Croydon?

You can park for free in London on single yellows after 630pm on Saturday through to Sunday night, does that help? You have to be lucky to find one though.

Try a site like parkopedia. Without more specific location info hard to advise.

Last time we went to London for weekend cost around 70.00 for two Cheeper on the nerves and London hotel parking fees taking into account petrol

Avoid The Trainline unless you have money to throw away. They sell exactly the same tickets as the train operating companies at the same prices but with extra fees. East Coast trains, who run between Leeds and London, offer a discount for booking direct on their site from some tickets.

There is not much parking in central London (relative to density of hotels/businesses/housing) so it is rare to find hotels with free/cheap parking centrally.

Depending on which area, on-street parking is often free from 1.30pm Sat to 8.30pm Mon. So depending on your timing you may be able to avoid too much expense. Otherwise it just depends how far out you are prepared to go. An idea of budget and where you plan to visit would likely get you more suggestions on here.

I'd have though Advance train fares would be better value (and be eligible for the 2for1's). If you're determined to bring a car you could try the Hide in Hendon which has some free parking, is easy from the M1 and is handy for central London - about 20 minutes from Leicester Square/Covent Garden on the Northern Line.

As much as it's not everyone's favourite method of transport, I'd recommend taking megaBus down if you're on a budget. They aren't as bad as people make out, bit like Ryanair really, but the bus doesn't have baggage fees etc.
