Arriving Heathrow and departing Gatwick the next day HELP!

Hi guys!

Four adults (old couple and young couple) are arriving in Heathrow 23 of december at 10 PM and depart from Gatwick 10 AM on Christmas Eve.

What is the best (price, comfort, time) way to get from Heathrow to a hotel near Gatwick?

I've looked at the express train from Heathrow, it's 80 pounds for all but it only goes to Paddington? And the Gatwick express only leaves from Victoria? I've understood that it's quite a hassle to get from Paddington to Victoria? Mind you they will all have big luggages, at least 3 big ones and 4 cabin bags.

Thanks a lot! Appreciate it!

There is a direct bus from Heathrow to Gatwick, which I think is run by National Express.

Book a car service. For 4 of you that's likely to be £80-£100 but much easier (door to door) and cheaper.

There is the National Express bus that goes directly between the two but that's likely to be about £100 for all of you anyway.

Car companies based on positive poster feedback:

Hummingbird also gets good feedback - Just and Exclusive have had recent positive comments.

Incidentally trying to get into London and out again on the 24th is a bad idea as transport starts to close down early for Xmas, along with being expensive and the 'long' way round.

Yes agree with OP and get the national express bus direct from heathrow to gatwick. Takes just over an hour.

Ignore that, read the dates wrong. Rest still applies.

What about hotels near Gatwick Airport? Any recommendations? It's only for one night so doesn't have to be special. But near the airport, that's all.

You probably wouldn't move between Stockholm's airports by going through Stockholm. Same with Heathrow to Gatwick.

If you want comfort (and sleep), you may have to change the flight times. You may be getting to bed about 1am, and then checking in around 7am. If you can drop the bags off the night before at Gatwick, that may save you humping them around and save time in the morning.

I like the Courtyard Marriott very quiet even when busy, in good condition and most importantly walkable from the South terminal (and therefore the North terminal which is connected by a free satellite train). Rates that time of year are around £52 per room (prepaid). You would need 2.

The Sofitel is adjacent to the North terminal and is also good but usually a bit pricey. There are lots of others including a Hilton (also walkable, not in great condition). Watch for ones that claim to be close but still require a taxi or shuttle which adds to the cost and possible stress.
