Decent food/restaurants near Kings cross/St Pancreas station

Hi all, We will be staying in a hotel near Kings cross. You guys have any recommendations as on topic? I'm not particularly fussed about it, just hope we can end the day with a proper or decent meal before going back to the hotel and calling it after a day of sightseeing and walking. Budget will not be a problem, and by the way alcohol and wine is not our thing :)

Thank you!

Where specifically are you staying? There are loads of places in the vicinity.

There are several restaurants to choose from along Marchmont St and the nearby Brunswick centre also has several restaurants.

Specifically, there's the North Sea for fish & chips (on Leigh St) , the Balfour (Italian) on Marchmont St was always busy. If you want a bit of a splurge, the Gilbert Scott at the St Pancras Renaissance is good.

I have mentioned this previously, but from Kings Cross you are only a few minutes by bus from Upper Street, Islington. This offers the greatest range of places to eat concentrated in one single area. No other street, in the whole of the UK, offers such a wide choice of eating establishments.

If you cannot find it on Upper Street I doubt you will find it anywhere. It is a short walk or jump on a bus up towards the Angel, (you could also take the tube) but a nice pleasant walk downhill after your meal.

I'd recommend the union tavern, corner of kings x rd and Lloyd baker st, lovely pub with a bistro style restaurant.

It's St Pancras, not St Pancreas.

In France the saint is spelt St Pancrace. In fact there are two saints by that name. There is no medical connection!

"If you cannot find it on Upper Street I doubt you will find it anywhere."

How about a decent restaurant, for a start?.

Upper St's uniquely wide choice includes not one single establishment recommended by a reputable restaurant guide. Noisy, wide range of styles, fun for some - but almost uniform in their medocrity, Upper St restaurants are rivalled only by Brick Lane's for the consistently low level of food they succeed in serving.

It's all very well offering kosher, vegan, Ethiopian food. But anywhere else, edibility comes first.

I take it you've eaten in all of them flanneruk?

I eat at tortilla every now and and always enjoy their Mexican style wraps.

What are you on about flanneruk?

I can't offhand think of any Kosher, Vegan or Ethiopian restaurants in Upper Street (which doesn't mean there aren't any). But I can think of several perfectly decent ones. There are certainly some duds too but they usually don't last too long at current rental prices.
