Getting around London

We are going to London in August 2014, my husband is unable to walk up too many stairs, so the Tube is out for us.

What would be the next best public transport to use?

Do check the tube map - many stations have been upgraded and have lifts or escalators. These are marked by a wheelchair symbol on the map.

Very few central London stations are step free. WIthin the Circle line only Hyde Park Corner, Green Park, King's Cross, Westminster and Farringdon have step free access from street to platforms.

You and Mr 1950 will have to rely on buses for the most part, but may find the DLR, Overground and other National Rail services will be handy as well. I think all DLR stations are step free as are many Overground stations. Some mainline rail stations have stairs or ramps from concourse to platforms, but again there are ways to work around those stations.

Have you chosen a hotel yet? If so then where, please?
