Heathrow Hotels?

My husband and I need to do an overnight stay nearby Heathrow Airport for a flight out the next day. Could you please comment - pros and cons - on The Crowne Plaza, The Doubletree and/or The Marriott Windsor? Would yoju recommend another hotel? Looking for a clean hotel with a nice (casual) restaurant and a bar/lounge. Thank you for your help.

Can you give us more information please? Which terminal do you fly out of, and at what time? What is your budget?

Any reason why those 3 ticked your boxes? The artfully named Marriott Windsor is not in Windsor, it is in Slough by a major motorway junction. I would cross that one off your list, if access to local amenities are a priority.

The Crowne Plaza is probably the best option of the 3 you have mentioned.

There are a number of hotels around Heathrow to suit all budgets, as LauraRW says, a bit more info will help us to narrow recommendations down a bit.

Thanks for your help.

We are trying to keep the cost down to under 93 GP per night. We don't mind taking a shuttle to the airport. We are flying with US Airways but don't know yet which terminal we'll be leaving from. Thanks again!

Don't stay at Heathrow. Stay in central London. You don't have to check in until 10:15, so don't bother staying near Heathrow. There'll be a better selection of restaurants and bars, and you won't be tied to an unbelievably expensive Hotel offering.

Choose a hotel anywhere along the picadilly underground line, and you'll be at Heathrow in 35 minutes.

Premier Inns are a good place to start.

To add context and colour. Your flight will leave from T1. None of the hotels at the airport are near T1. For a mid morning check in (such as yours) you can get to T1 almost as quickly from Earls Court as you can from many airport hotels.

Ok, so you don't need to be at the airport until 9:15. If I were you, I would stay in Central London, as others have suggested, and take the tube to Heathrow...

What are you doing in the day prior to this? Will you already be in London, or coming from another locale? It makes a difference if you are, for example, coming in from Wales or the Cotswolds.

Yep that's the key question, plus, what time do you envisage arriving there? If you are already in London the day before there is certainly no need to move.

Thanks to all of you.

We are considering the 8 day Heart of Wales and England Tour. It ends on Sept 13 and we think - we're checking into it - that it ends at Heathrow Airport. This is why we thought an airport hotel would work best.

Has anyone taken this tour?

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks again!
