Premier Inn Waterloo or IBIS Styles Southwark?

Hello,

We are a young couple from India, on a visit to London/Edinburg from 14th - 23rd december. We land at London Heathrow Terminal 3 late evening on 14th Dec ( Sat)

We will be staying 6 nights in London and 4 nights at Edinburg.

Based on our research and budget the three hotels we shortlisted are

1) Premier Inn Waterloo ( Avg. Rate GBP 105) 2) IBIS Styles Southwark ( Avg. Rate GBP 95) 3) Hotel Rhodes near Paddington ( Avg Rate GBP 88 ) . Both Rhodes and IBIS have breakfast free while Premier Inn does not.

May i request those who have stayed in or are aware of these hotels and the location suggest which among these would be a better choice.

We liked premier Inn waterloo based on the positive reviews and also its proximity to the river thames and trafalgar square among other things. Since it gets dark early we thought it would be nice to take a walk in the evening to these locations. Only negative is there is no breakfast included in the price which IBIS and Rhodes offer at lesser cost...hence the confusion.

Since we will be landing in London late evening on 14th Dec , we are looking at staying overnight at Holiday Inn at heathrow and proceed next morning to our hotel @ central london . Does this make sense? Especially considering the above three hotels are higher priced for Saturday.

Rhodes offers "free" breakfast" because it is not as good as PI.

Best regards regmaiche

PI Waterloo is the best location IMO - plus great transport options (bus/rail/tube) and that is reflected in the price as well as being the best property.

I wouldn't worry about breakfast too much. You can pick up stuff cheaply from a supermarket or one of the many cafes nearby. Also check the breakfast price at the PI, sometimes quite cheap if included when booking.

Breakfast should never be a dealbreaker in London IMO.

parklandwalk, Thanks for the prompt feedback. yes breakfast is not really a dealbreaker . but since heard equal positive reviews for PI and IBIS wanted to clarify on the overall choice.

Also could you pls. suggest if staying overnight at Heathrow makes sense. We land at 18:30.

The Ibis is not as good (location or property wise) as the PI IMO.

No, if you're landing at 18.30 which is early, head into town. Staying at Heathrow is a bad and unnecessary option.

Thanks Parklandwalk, i just came across an offer for Hotel Park Plaza County Hall at http://www.olotels.com/ an an astonishingly low rate of GBP 65 per night. . The official rate on the hotel website is around GBP 200. Is this genuine offer . How can one confirm?

I just had a look at the Olotels website and they had that hotel at £121 per night but that is the UK site - it might be different on the Indian site?

Still a good deal for a hotel that is one or two notches above the PI and in equally good location.

adamhornets , thanks. yes you are correct it is indeed GBP 121 i made a mistake. It looks fantastic deal to us. But how do we know its genuine deal, since we need to pay upfront and have never heard of this site before. Any valuable suggestions.

Olotels are a genuine company although they get very mixed reviews. Have a search of this forum for some opinions but here is one happy customer - tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g186338-i17-k60030…

And one less convincing thread - tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g186338-i17-k69561…

Thanks for the help, adamhornets. Since i am still a bit unsure with Olotels would rather stick with PI this time around.
