London accommodation

I'd like to stay in a B&B or a pub anywhere around 15 -20 mins from London, as long as it is in a safe location close to a train station and is reasonably priced. Are there any suggestions? Thank you.

15 - 20 mins from which part of London?

Not really sure what you're asking.

Reasonablly priced could mean anything so what is your budget in sterling?

If you define central London as the area within the Circle line on the underground map, 15 to 20 minutes' journey time beyond this will take you to some fairly nondescript, high housing density suburbs. Obviously there are exceptions, Greenwich for example is very nice, but the trade off for cheaper accommodation is restricted choice of local restaurants, higher travel costs, crowded trains and time taken away from sightseeing. Nor are you likely to find homely, characterful bed and breakfast lodgings in the inner city; more likely it will be large Victorian houses converted without much style into 10 bedroom hotels. In value for money terms these places are fine but not exactly memorable.

My advice would be to seek lower priced accommodation in neighbourhoods like Bloomsbury or the recently revitalised St Pancras/Kings Cross area. Use the search button to bring up numerous discussions about budget accommodation. One place that often gets mentioned is Captain Bligh's House near the Imperial War Museum.

Places in London can be 15-20 minutes from each other within London. B & Bs are rather thin on the ground; if you are looking to save money, or have a specific budget in mind, please provide it, along with the time you are traveling, and the number in your party.

Assuming you can get the dates you want, I'd go for the Fleet River Rooms at the Fleet River Bakery.

I know this is central London, but honestly, 15-20 minutes and you're nowhere near 'outside London'.
