Tubes, Museums, Shops etc On Bank Holidays 2014

Hi,

Can you tell me please if the Tubes run a normal service on an August Bank Holiday? If not, what service - if any - will they be running? We will be visiting next year and it may coincide with the August 2014 Bank Holiday

Likewise, will museums, churches, shops etc be open more or less as normal as well on a Bank Holiday?

Thanks guys for any help.

The tubes/buses will run a Sunday service but you will barely notice this in the central areas. Everything will be open as usual.

The only difference is that there might be planned engineering work on the tube , I think it is a little early for TFL to publish the schedule but mostly you can work around that with a little planning.

On August Bank Holiday underground and buses in the vicinity of Notting Hill/Ladbroke Grove) will be very busy because of the Carnival. If you aren't going to this area you won't notice the difference.

In the UK on a bank holiday Monday everywhere will be open, its one of the big days for us locals to go to the coast and for days out. In towns and cities public transport runs a Sunday service. Its only in rural areas that there is likely to be no transport as there is generally no Sunday service anyway!

Christmas is the only holiday where public transport, shops etc shuts down
